The hardest working man in Hollywood is back at it with another film. That’s right, that big brother from down south, Tyler Perry is back with his second major release of 2008, The Family That Preys. Earlier this year, his Meet the Browns, starring Angela Bassett and Rick Fox, generated close to $42 million in domestic receipts.

Tyler Perry is busier than ever these days, and that’s not at all bad, because in Hollywood being busy means being paid, and Tyler’s got loot falling out of his boots! Perry, who once lived in his car, now has mansions in California and Georgia. And, he can afford them too. He is listed at #42 in the Forbes magazine Celebrity 100 power rankings, based on money and fame. They estimate that Perry made about $125 million between June 2007 and June 2008. So the next time you catch him sleeping in a car, it’ll just be because he’s tired.

The new release, The Family That Preys, is a comedy/drama about two vastly different families, one upper crust and one working class, that become linked by scandal. The movie features highly acclaimed actresses Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard as the matriarchs of the two families. It’s billed as a comedy, but I think someone forgot to include the humorous scenes in the trailer. Actually, it's more of a drama, but Perry knows where to put the laughs to lighten it up every now and then. But don't come looking for Madea, and her zany exploits, in here. Although, there were a couple of scenes where it looked like Perry wanted to go into his Madea routine.
